While it has been a few weeks since my last post, fear not. I finished my first revision of the story and am astounded by how well it is turning out. Character dialogue no longer drags, scenes flow with an awesome tempo, battles are more decisive, and more and more, I feel that this is a story series people will feel truly interested in sharing once they have read through. I look back on the gameplay notes and compare them to the story that it has become, and I cannot believe it. Even looking at the rough draft compared to now, I can see that I have become a whole new writer within the last year.
While the story has been progressing, I have had to sacrifice other aspects that go along with marketing and advertising the story due to many sudden changes in my family’s life. The number one of which having to move to a new house due to rampant mold issues we had to suffer through for over a year. We spent the first six months ill, and when my son contracted yet another respiratory infection, we had had enough. The majority of the time I had off, planned specifically for developing my platform and connecting with potential readers, I had to pause and devote to moving furniture and finding a couple of hours during the day to squeak out 500-2000 words on the current draft.
Now, having completed the move and the revision, I am going to take the holiday off to decompress before beginning the next read-through and making those connections that emergent authors need to create in order for their work to sell. So after Christmas, I will be reading, engaging, and giving props to the folks who have helped me develop this work from the beginning.
And yes, Malcolm Pryce, I haven’t forgotten to mention you.
Until then…
