Strange is a thing called ‘Plans’ and how life laughs at them. While I have been away from my platform for some time, I have been hard at work still. Book 2 – The Solhaven Fellowship is underway, with 2/3 of the rough draft already completed. During this time, I have had to travel to major cities and soon two separate countries for work. This has put a noticeable hold on my book launch and signing schedules, but has also given me the opportunity to recognize one of the biggest issues with my first novel: I rushed it. I absolutely love becoming absorbed in rereading my first novel, but now that I have had some time to cool off from it, I am finding a lot of the common mistakes that most first-time novelists make. Posting the individual chapters online has given me a means to look at the story with fresher eyes and to provide one more revision before re-revising the novel for publication.
The Sword, the Song, and the Mage – Chapters 13 – 20 are now available, and I am thoroughly enjoying the chance to experience the story from the beginning once more and remembering how much ‘younger’ my characters were back then compared to where they are only weeks later in the next novel. I hope more of you will check out the story so far, and I do plan to finish more chapters in the coming weeks, as I will be living out of a hotel for work in another country yet again.
Until then…
